Southern University Museum of Art at Shreveport

The museum is comprised of an exquisite collection of African and African-American art. Imported from the major art producing locales of Africa, our permanent collection brings artistic and detailed vision to the beauty of the different artifacts. The African-American collection exhibits the works artists from various areas of the U.S. with emphasis being placed on the work of artists who are local to the city and state. Together, these two vast collections present the rare beauty found in sculptures, statues, masks, paintings, photography, and poetry , while adding to the ambience of the historic location where it is housed.
